DESIGNER CHARLES WILSON COLLABORATES WITH KING FURNITURE
Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at 12:40PM King Furniture revealed its latest piece, Andrea, at the State of Design Festival in Melbourne, which ran between 14 – 25 July this year. The new sofa was designed by Sydney-based designer Charles Wilson, in an exciting new external collaboration.
The design process for Andrea began two years ago, when King Furniture invited Wilson to enhance the collection with a new creation. Together they have created a new Australian design showcasing significant local innovation, a bold, sensual design aesthetic and expert technical knowledge.
Andrea has been designed to be completely modular with arm and back sections slotting into the frame using a unique locking mechanism. Several table designs have also been created that fit into the sofa to provide added functionality.
Wilson used simple mechanics to incorporate as much flexibility as possible, allowing Andrea’s form to be easily morphed into several different configurations. The result is a piece that combines comfort with contemporary style and adaptability.
